Wisconsin women’s basketball gets close early in second half before bowing to No. 10 Ohio State

Taylor Thierry posted a career-high 25 points and Taylor Mikesell had 21 to help the No. 10 Ohio State women’s basketball team beat the University of Wisconsin 90-67 and the three games on Wednesday night at the Kohl Center – Grab the Buckeyes’ sled.
Thierry also had seven rebounds for Ohio State (20-3, 9-3 Big Ten Conference), who started the season with 19 straight wins before losing three in a row.
Freshman Serah Williams had 23 points and grad student Avery LaBarbera had 17 for UW (7-16, 2-9), who have lost five of their last six games.

Ohio State went 12 points short of UW turnovers to lead 45-34 at halftime. The Buckeyes ended the tournament 24 points clear of the Badgers’ miscues.

The Buckeyes missed their first three shot attempts in the third quarter when UW used an 11-5 sprint to cut Ohio State’s lead to 50-49.
Reserve Brooke Schramek crowned the run with a 3-pointer. Cotie McMahon didn’t let the Buckeyes lose, scoring 15 of their 19 points in the second half.
“We fought the entire 40 minutes and did things tonight that we haven’t done this season,” said UW coach Marisa Moseley. “We still have some work to do on turnovers, but we’ve still put together some really great plays at some really great times.”
