Dan Allen Hickerson | Pampa News

Dan Allen Hickerson, age 65, of Skellytown, Texas, retired at his home on Saturday, January 28, 2023. He was born on January 8, 1958 to Burl and Louise Hickerson in Frederick, Oklahoma.

After attending school in Folsom, California, Dan discovered his talent in plumbing. He worked for Sawatzky Construction as a plumber for several years, which eventually got him relocated to Pampa. Dan ventured into self-employment and enjoyed being his own boss for about 35 years. During this time, it was not uncommon for him to offer his services to many in need, especially the elderly. As he got older and his health became an issue, he retired from self-employment, but his drive to work persisted and he hired at the Amarillo Independent School District.

Described as a man of many colors, Dan loved not only to work but to help in any capacity he could think of. He never met a stranger and was an amazing storyteller. He always had a colorful story from his past, and the older he got, the bigger his stories got!

Definitely a one of a kind guy, Dan certainly had a big heart of gold and will be missed terribly by all who knew and loved him.

He was greeted in heaven by his father, Burl Hickerson; a father-in-law, Tim Lesher and a sister-in-law, Deana Lesher.

Dan is survived by his wife of seven years, Katrina Lesher from Pampa; his mother Louise Hickerson of Skellytown; two sons, Mike Hickerson and Mrs. Catherine of Panhandle, Tim Hickerson and Mrs. Jordan Dreadin of Skellytown; two stepsons, Tim Davis and Ms. Kashian, Brad Davis and Ms. Destiny, all from pampas; two brothers, Burl Lynn Hickerson, Jr. of Long Beach, CA, Ed Hickerson and wife Dolly of Pampas; sister-in-law Tammy Mendoza and husband Mike from Pampa; grandchildren, Emily Hickerson, Serena Hickerson, Caleb Hickerson, Phoenix Hickerson, plus twelve other step-grandparents he considered his own; Mother-in-law Vickie Lesher from Pampa and a multitude of nieces, nephews and extended families that Dan loved dearly.
