Athlete of the Week nominations for Jan. 31

The Reporter-Telegram honors one male and one female Athlete of the Week sponsored by Midland Meat Company based on an online fan vote.

Fans can get online every week starting Tuesday at 00:01 at www.mrt.com/AOTW. Voting closes at 3:00pm on Thursday each week and winners will be announced on mrt.com on Friday or in the print edition of MRT on Saturday. Those who vote to enter the contest each week will be entered into a weekly drawing for a $25 gift card from Midland Meat Company.

Varsity coaches can send nominations to [email protected] through Saturday at 10:00 p.m. each week.

Here are this week’s nominations:

MALE

Zach Day, Jr., Midland Christian

Day had 24 points in the Mustangs’ 63-38 away win over Fort Worth Southwest Christian on Jan. 24. He followed with 21 points in MCS’s 65-35 win over Fort Worth Christian on Jan. 27 that propelled the Mustangs to first place.

Jay Hailey, Sr., Midland Classical

He had the team best of 16 points to lead the Knights to their first district win in a 67-60 win over Fort Worth Lake Country Christian on January 27. He had 19 points in MCA’s 56-51 loss to Arlington Pantego the next day.

Tatum Pierce, Jr., Greenwood

The guard lit the scoreboard with 33 points in a 72-56 win over Monahans on Jan. 27. He averaged 24 points in two Ranger wins in District 3-4A.

London Rickett, Sr Midland High

The Guard had a game-high 21 points on Jan. 27 during the Bulldogs’ 76-46 loss of Legacy. Rickett averaged 15.5 points in the Dawgs’ two District 2-6A games.

FEMALE

Allyson Jackson, Sr., Greenwood

The Post scored 15 points in the Rangerettes’ 58-29 away win over Fort Stockton on Jan. 24, and she had 16 points in a 62-43 win over Monahans on Jan. 27.
