Tennessee Songwriters Week Returns with more than 1,000 Songwriters Compete for Chance to Play at Legendary Bluebird Cafe – Clarksville Online

Tennessee Department of Tourist DevelopmentNashville, Tennessee – Discover the musical history of Tennessee from those who write it. Sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, Tennessee Songwriters Week, now in its fifth year, features more than 50 qualifiers at music venues, restaurants, museums, cafes and more in seven musically diverse regions across the state.

Local judges within the songwriting community will consider originality of lyrics, performance and connection to the audience. Songwriters selected for the qualifying rounds will perform at one of seven showcase events across Tennessee.

  • Monday, February 20, 2023 – The Bijou in Knoxville
  • Tuesday, February 21, 2023 – Songbirds Foundation in Chattanooga
  • Tuesday, February 21, 2023 – Lafayette’s music room in Memphis
  • Wednesday, February 22, 2023 – Ole Red in Gatlinburg
  • Wednesday, February 22, 2023 – The Down Home in Johnson City
  • Thursday, February 23, 2023 – The Franklin Theater in Franklin
  • Saturday 25 February 2023 – The Palace Theater in Gallatin

Seven finalists, one from each showcase, will win the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform with music industry professionals during a private event in March at the legendary Bluebird Cafe. Finalists will also win a commemorative Taylor branded guitar, a two-night hotel stay in Nashville, a $100.00 travel credit and a one-year membership of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI).

Past Showcase finalists include Adeem the Artist, whose album received rave reviews from Rolling Stone, Maura Streppa, hip-hop artist Jay Da Skreet, American folk band Travis Bigwood & the Lonesome Doves from Knoxville, and more.

Tennessee Songwriters Week was created in 2019 to support music venues, celebrate songwriters with live performances across all music genres, encourage visits and inspire travelers to experience the state’s music stories, history, attractions and venues. Since its inception, more than 3,500 songwriters have shared their original music during the annual celebrations on Tennessee’s stages.

The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development works with The Bluebird Cafe, NSAI, Taylor Guitars, music venues and local convention and visitor bureaus, chambers and partners across the state to ensure songwriters can share their original work on stage with fellow writers.
