Tuesday marks the first time we’ll see the Sunflower Showdown play the hardwood as the defending champions travel to Manhattan to face off against a Kansas state suffering its first conference loss.
Kansas now sits alone at the top of the conference standings after Kansas State lost at the Schollmeier Arena on Saturday. The Jayhawks win a very narrow home win over No. 14 Iowa 62-60. Freshman Guard Grady Dick led the team with 21 points in the standings while standing out in front Jalen Wilson had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Wildcats lost their first conference game of the season on Saturday when TCU defeated them 82-68. The story of the game was the turnover margin as Kansas State turned the ball over 20 times to TCU’s 10. They can’t afford to be so loose with the ball on Tuesday if they’re looking to win their first game against their state rival since 2019.
The Bramlage Coliseum will rock on Tuesday night.
Tipoff is Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. CT and you can watch on ESPN.
No. 7 Texas vs. No. 12 Iowa State
The Longhorns have found their stride in conference play, winning three straight wins, but they’re up against a Cyclones team that narrowly lost their first conference game in Lawrence.
Since allowing 116 points for Kansas State at home, Texas has beaten Oklahoma State on the road and No. 17 TCU and Texas Tech at home. Senior Guard Markus Carr puts together an impressive season averaging 17.5 points per game and 4.5 assists per game.
Along with Kansas State, the Iowa State Cyclones have been an upset so far this season. It started when they upset No. 1 North Carolina on Nov. 25, and they kept the surprise going into the Big 12 conference game with their lone two-point loss next Saturday en route to No. 2

Two of the top three teams in Big East standings go head-to-head on Wednesday when the brothers travel to the Midwest to take on Marquette.
These two schools met on December 20 and Providence won 103-98 in OT. The Golden Eagles are looking to avenge their preseason loss and overtake the brothers in conference standings.
Marquette suffered a heavy defeat on the road to number 12 Xavier on Saturday. Sophomore Guard Tyler Kolek scored 25 points, which is his second-highest performance of the season after his 29-point performance in the first matchup against Providence.
Tipoff is Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. CT and you can watch on CBS Sports Network.
