BISMARCKND (February 1, 2023) – Sanford Health is pleased to open the new Sanford Cancer Center to the public on February 6th.

Conveniently located on the fourth floor of the Sanford Downtown Rosser Clinic across from Bismarck Medical Center, the new, state-of-the-art, 14,000 square foot facility will house 18 exam rooms, an infusion pharmacy, a specialty boutique and 25 private, semi-private and open infusion lines.

“Coming to us from all over Dakota and Montana, our patients deserve exceptional care delivered by highly trained professionals in a state-of-the-art facility close to their hometown,” said Mike Salwei, Executive Director of Oncology Services. “This new facility will bring together cancer care, infusion and hematology services in one convenient location that will better serve our patients and their families.”

At Sanford Health, a dedicated cancer team provides the most advanced procedures and treatments using cutting-edge science. Sanford Cancer Centers are nationally accredited by the Commission on Cancer for quality care, expertise and patient experience. Sanford’s areas of expertise include breast cancer, head and neck cancer, leukemia, osteosarcoma, lung and pancreatic cancer.

“This new facility is a dream come true. Many years ago I told Governor Sinner that I envisioned a welcoming, comprehensive cancer center with knowledgeable medical staff and specialties to meet the needs of our patients so they didn’t have to travel far from home,” said Barb Nies, Director of Oncology Services. “Over the years we have made that vision a reality, developing excellent quality control, a complementary social service to meet the emotional needs of our patients, and a survival clinic all operating under one roof.”

Sanford Bismarck began construction of the Cancer Center in the spring of 2022. Sanford Bismarck Medical Center is certified by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) and recently accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).
