Tribune Notebook: Six Cards earn conference honors – West Central Tribune

WILLMAR – No fewer than six Willmar athletes have been recognized as “Performers of the Week” by the Central Lakes Conference.
Ice hockey players Chloe Lownsbury and Erin Eilers, basketball player Brielle Ogdahl, Nordic skier Elizabeth Haugen, gymnast Carlee Brown and wrestler Cavin Carlson received CLC honors for their accomplishments last week.
Lownsbury, a junior forward, scored four goals in two games, including a hat-trick in one, to become Offensive Player of the Week.
Eilers, a sophomore goaltender, had 45 saves in two games and made a 1-1 record to be Defensive Player of the Week.
Ogdahl averaged 9.3 rebounds in three games, making him Defensive Player of the Week.
Haugen placed fourth at the Willmar Invitational.

Brown placed fourth on uneven bars, third in floor exercise, and fourth in all-around.
Carlson, who was No. 1, took first place at the Hutchinson Invitational. He has a 23-3 record.

* By St. Cloud Tech/Rocori, boy diver Jack Sahlstrom; and
* From Sauk Rapids, hockey player Teagan Dodge.

Francisco Celis Victoria Jr. is one of 16 athletes participating in the Willmar Golden Gloves Boxing program. The 17-year-old heavyweight won a fight hosted by Central Minnesota Boxing in Wadena on Saturday. Victoria Jr. defeated Wadena super heavyweight Gavin Walz with a technical knockout in the third round.
Victoria Jr., who is 6 feet tall and weighs 215 pounds, rolled a standing eight count in the first round. Walz is 6-3 and 273. Victoria Jr. was coached by Willmar’s assistant coach, Lope Navarro.
Willmar’s next event is at the end of February. The team’s head coach is Kirk Davis.

Dance team Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Falcons placed second in the high kick division and eighth in the jazz division at Saturday’s New London-Spicer Invitational. Holdingford took the first kick.
Team members include: Macy Elton, Ally Giese, Brinley Grimsgard, Haley Johnson, Kaylee Keppers, Jayden Olson, Sophie Oyen, Jada Rosenquist and Gabi Shea.
Coaches are Tori Dengerud and Sloan Hedtke.
ACGC will take part in the February 11 Section Tournament in Melrose.
