Shreveport-area has signing horde on National Signing day

Northwest Louisiana had a massive college recruiting day on Wednesday, with more than 50 athletes from the area choosing where they will compete at the next level.

Though there were no Power Five schools among local signers, Louisiana-Lafayette landed a linebacker from Captain Shreve and a lineman from Haughton, while Louisiana Tech landed Airline and Arkansas State’s 6-foot-4-wide receiver Daxton Chavez Country drew Pearce Russell from Benton.

FCS Nicholls State, Lamar, Northwestern State, and Grambling all found something they like in the Shreveport area. Division III and Centenary without a scholarship had six athletes from the area who pledged to play in the Gents first football team.
