The Louisville Leopards girls basketball team recorded a convincing 60-42 win over host North Canton Hoover Vikings Wednesday night at Hoover High School. With the win, Louisville has now won 3 of their last 4 games and improves to 11-7 this season.

Barwick scores in the game with high 19 for Leopards

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdSophomore shooting guard Courtney Barwick scored 11 of her high 19 points in the first half as the Lady Leopards took early command of the contest. Barwick also conceded 4 of Louisville’s 9 three-pointers that night.

Junior shooting guard Brooke Haren also poured in 18 points to keep up with a team that led 4 rebounds. Haren scored 12 points in the second half to cement Louisville’s win.


Miglich sets 3-pointer record for a single relay

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdSenior shooting guard Taryn Miglich also scored 14 points, breaking the school record for most three-point shots in a single season. Miglich equalizes Barwick with 4 three-pointers on the night to take them to 51 for the season.

The previous three-point record in a season was set by Paige Cole, who made 49 shots from beyond the archway in the 2020-2021 season.


Rose leads Vikings with Team High 17

Jenny Can cleaning adSenior point guard Lauren Rose netted her team’s 11 points with 17 in the first half to lead the Lady Vikings. Senior power forward Grace Craig also finished the game with 10 points and a game high of 6 boards for Hoover. Junior point guard Livi Cardinale rounded out North Canton’s top scorers with a pair of threes and 7 points.


Louisville’s first win at Hoover since 1989

Equal Counselors - Bryce MathieThe win ended Louisville’s 12-game losing streak against North Canton Hoover over a 29-year period. The Lady Leopards last defeated the Lady Vikings on December 30, 1993, 45-43.

Louisville’s last win in North Canton was a 51-42 win on January 11, 1989. Hoover had won the previous 6 encounters in the rivalry while hosting LHS. The 18-point lead is the second-biggest for the North Canton Leopards of all time. Louisville won the 1979 game at Hoover 50-28, a 22-point margin.

Despite the Vikings’ decade-long dominance ahead of Wednesday, the Leopards are just 22-23 behind the all-time streak. That includes a 9-10 record while playing on the road in North Canton Hoover on the series.
