Waukee High School Celebrates National Signing Day

Waukee High School held its annual National Signing Day celebration on February 1 to recognize athletes who are committed to future facilities. There were 20 athletes who signed and earned a total of 44 varsity letters. They won three conference championships together and set 12 school records while qualifying for state titles and winning state titles in many activities.
Evan Schwickerath signs rowing at the University of Iowa. She is a 4 year old college certificate winner who has been competitive swimming for over 10 years. Schwickerath was instrumental in winning back-to-back State Championships for the girls’ swimming team.
Lili Gehling will play volleyball at Des Moines Area Community College. She is a 2-year-old varsity letter winner and was nominated for the third-team All-Conference. Gehling has led the volleyball team as team captain in team kills.
Gerber Dinnebier signs to play golf at the University of Northern Iowa. He is a 3-year varsity letter winner and was first-team All-State and All-Tournament nominees for 2 consecutive years. Dinnebier finished fifth in 4A boys’ golf in 2022.
Drew Pelton will play gold at Iowa Central Community College. He is a 2 year old varsity letter winner and has shown tremendous lead on the boys golf team. Pelton led the team in number of team medalists and in eagles and pars for the 2022 season.
Jack Myszewski signs to play golf at Iowa Central Community College. He is a 2 year varsity letter winner and was one of the core elders leading the boys golf team to 3rd place in the state this year. Myszewski finished the 2022 season as a top 25 golfer in 4A golf for boys.
Omaha Biliew will play basketball at Iowa State University. He is a 2-year varsity letter winner and leads the team in average points per game (22.5). Biliew was selected to attend the Nike Hoop Summit and the Mcdonald’s All-American Games.
Cooper Randall signs to play basketball at Truman State University. He is a 2-year varsity letter winner for the boys basketball team. Randall was an honorable mention at every conference last year and received first-team honors from every substate.
Luke Orton will be bowling at Luther College. He is a 2 year old college letter winner on the boys bowling team. Orton played a key role in winning the bowling state championship last year and is a critical component to the team’s success this year.
Jack Hillis signs to play soccer at Central College. He is a 3-year varsity letter winner on the boys soccer team and was a 3-year academic all-conference winner. Hillis was selected for the second-team overall conference and as captain last spring.
Isabella Webb will run at Dordt University. She is a 4-year-old varsity letter winner for the girls’ cross-country team and a 3-year-old varsity letter winner for the girls’ track and field team. Webb helped lead the cross country team in qualifying for the state and has placed in the top ten in many record books at WHS for fastest times.
Nicole Sabatino signs to run at Loras College. She is a 3-year certificate winner for the girls’ running team and a 2-time state qualifier in the shuttle hurdles relay. Sabatino was a member of the seventh fastest shuttle hurdle in school history and was also part of the state winning team in 2021.
Josie Moreland will be long jumping at the University of Northern Iowa. She is a 3-year-old varsity letter winner for the girls’ track and field team and is a two-time Drake relay and All-State performer. Moreland took home the state long jump title, marking the second best jump in school history.
Bryn gentlemen signs to play softball at Des Moines Area Community College. She is a 4-year varsity certificate winner and has helped lead the Warriors to qualification for the last 3 state tournaments. Herren was named a Central Conference second-team infielder and third-team All-State honors.
Lily Rand will play softball at Missouri Southern State University. She is a 2-year varsity letter winner and helped the Warriors qualify for the 2022 state tournament. Rand earned first-team central conference pitcher honors and second-team all-state honors.
Colin Driscoll signs to play baseball at Des Moines Area Community College. He is a 2-year college letter winner and led the baseball team in 7 offensive categories. Driscoll was named a first-team All-Conference Team and a second-team All-District.
Bryce Hoskinson will play baseball at Ellsworth Community College. He is a 2-year varsity letter winner and was part of the state qualifying team for the past year. Hoskinson was also recognized as an honorable mention for all conferences last year.
Connor MacAlpine signs to play baseball at Ellsworth Community College. He is a 2 year varsity letter winner and was part of the state qualifying team last year.
Luke beaten will play soccer at Iowa Western Community College. He is a 2-year varsity letter winner and was named a first-team all-district wide receiver. Struck will also represent WHS in the 2023 Iowa Shrine Bowl.
Blake Hauck signs to play soccer at Iowa Western Community College. He is a 2 year old varsity letter winner and played a pivotal role in rebuilding the football team after the split. Hauck led the team on total offense in the 2021 season.
Kaidan Ivory will play soccer at Iowa Western Community College. He is a 2-year varsity letter winner and was named a first-team All-District fullback. Ivory also represented WHS in the 2022 Blue-Grey All-American Bowl.
