Treasures of NOAA’s Ark is a new exhibit at the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville that highlights the history and influence of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
ATLANTA – Tellus Science Museum cracks “NOAA’s Ark”:
Today, groundhogs are given much credit for forecasting the weather across the country. And while we’re not trying to take anything away from meteorology’s favorite rodent, we thought it was a good time to learn more about the actual scientists working on important environmental issues.
This morning we took a trip to the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville to see Treasures of NOAA’s Ark, a new exhibit highlighting the history and influence of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. You’ve no doubt heard of NOAA (as on NOAA weather radios), but the exhibit delves deep into the federal agency, highlighting its founding and current mission to “enrich life through science.” One of the most direct impacts on daily life? One of NOAA’s line offices is the National Weather Service, which issues the severe weather alerts you see here on FOX 5.
The exhibit—located in the showroom known as The Vault—features historical maps, weather charts, and scientific instruments that tell the story of how agencies dating back to 1807 paved the way for NOAA as it is today.
Treasures from NOAA’s Ark will remain on display at the Tellus Science Museum through October 29; The museum is located at 100 Tellus Drive in Cartersville and is open daily from 10am to 5pm. More information about visiting the museum can be found here. More information about visiting the museum can be found here.
