Sprouts grocery store to open in Victorville in Former Toy “R” Us Building
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) – Sprouts Farmers Market is preparing to open its first location in Victorville.
The store last month released the notification of its Type 20 Off-Sale Beer & Wine Liquor License Application, which will authorize the sale of beer and wine for consumption off-premises.
The sign was placed on the glass door of the vacant Toys “R” Us building at 12450 Amargosa Road near PetSmart, which is due to be occupied.
In 2018, VVNG reported the closure of the iconic Toys “R” Us store after the ailing retailer was forced to close nearly 800 stores across the United States.
Sprouts, a grocery store much sought after by many residents, recently took over a vacant Toys R Us store in Lancaster and opened the location late last year.
Nine years ago, in 2012, Shannon Miers of Victorville posted on the Sprouts Farmer Market Facebook group, “We would <3 buy a Sprouts in the High Desert (Victorville, Apple Valley/Hesperia area of California! We don't do it there are big healthy food stores out here.”
The company responded to Shannon nearly a decade ago, saying they would escalate the request to their real estate team for consideration.
After careful consideration, the Company chose Victorville as its first location in Victor Valley, and as Shannon hinted at the time, the Company also plans to open a second location in Apple Valley.
“Sprouts is where good things grow,” the shop website boasts.
